Rudraksha seeds, sometimes called Bodhi seeds, derive their bountiful benefits and meaning from the Rudraksha Tree. The word Rudraksha in Sanskrit originates from the word Shiva (aka. Rudra), a Hindu god, paired with the word “teardrops”. Sanskrit texts cite the Rudraksha Tree in India as the place of the Buddha’s first achieving enlightenment.
According to ancient Vedic texts, these beads are endowed with cosmic powers to elevate the soul and assist on the path of ascension. It is said that Shiva went into a deep meditative state to hold space for the healing of all beings and when he opened his eyes, tears of compassion fell upon the earth in the form of these sacred seeds to help transcend humanity. They commonly revered and known for their healing properties and protective powers. It is believed that by meditating with or wearing Rudraksha Seeds, one can increase the ability to concentrate, obtain clarity and peace of mind, as well as improve memory.
