Ganesha affirms life by celebrating in its pleasures and beauty. As the Remover of Obstacles and the God of success, Ganesha is honored throughout Indian and in Hindu cultures, at both secular and religious ceremonies. When someone launches a new business or moves into a new home, for example, the elephant-headed god is invoked to bless the venture.

The chubby, gentle, wise, elephant-headed Ganesh, or Ganesha, is one of Hinduisms most popular deities. Ganesh is the remover of obstacles, the deity whom worshippers first acknowledge when they visit a temple. His image is traditionally placed where new houses are to be built; he is honored at the start of a journey or business venture, and poets traditionally invoke him at the start of a book. Ganesh is also a patron of letters and of learning; he is the legendary scribe who, using his commonly held broken tusk, wrote down parts of the Mahabharata Epic. In Hindu ideology weapons are a viewed as symbolic tools to destroy the ego rather than to cause any type of bloodshed. Ganesh's characteristic potbelly is usually bound around with a cobra. The cobra is an animal usually associated with Shiva, a reminder that Ganesh is his son.

Ganesha Symbolism

Men and women alike have been piercing their ears for cosmetic and ritualistic purposes since time immemorial. Earlobes are a natural place to enhance with ornamentation and indeed, humans have been doing so since before the beginning of recorded history. Across the world, in many cultures throughout time, earrings have been used to denote cultural identity or tribal affiliation or to indicate status. But most of the time, earrings have been so popular because of their decorative function. Ornamentation is much more than a matter of aesthetics. Earrings sit near the face, where most of us look while speaking to someone, so they're an immediate indicator of someone's rank, social status, sense of style, or wealth.

Earring Therapy is one branch of Auricular Therapy (also known as Auriculotherapy and Ear Acupuncture) that stimulates ear acupressure points by wearing specially designed spring loaded acupressure earring (US patent no. 8,122,739) at the various reflex points in the auricle. What is Auricular Therapy?

Auricular Therapy is a form of alternative medicine based on the idea that the ear is a microsystem of a whole body, meaning the entire body is represented in the ear in a similar manner as hand and foot reflexology. Acupressure points in the auricle of the external ear is utilized to alleviate pain and treat functional disorders.

History of Auricular Therapy

The Chinese found a close relationship between the ear and body. Auricular diagnostic and therapeutic methods were first documented in Nei Ching written around 200 B.C. Application of auricular therapy has been practiced in China since Jin dynasty (265 - 420 A.D.) French Dr. Paul Nogier discovered the inverted fetus shape distribution pattern of auricular points in 1950's. In 1982 Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Association formulated International Standard of Auricular Points (ISAP) at the request of the World Health Organization.
